Original Art

Eye of the City

$0.00

The piece that brought me back to art. I created it right after losing the job I'd worked at for over a decade — what felt like a setback became the blessing that pushed me back to drawing again. The biggest piece I had ever made, marking the start of a new chapter.

I donated it to a charity auction for children in Africa. It sold for $500. Years later — after moving south, losing my father-in-law and then my father — I learned the buyer had never taken it home. It had sat in a basement for four years. When I asked to buy it back, they simply returned it. No price. No conditions.

I kept the water damage. Those marks are part of its journey.

"If you love something, let it go. If it comes back, it is yours. If it doesn't, it never was."
